The bird call heard on this page: Tui and Riroriro (Grey warbler)

Waihi Walkways' mission is to create a series of linked public walkways around the Waihi District, for good health and for appreciation and enjoyment of our wonderful natural environment.

These walkways will not only provide access to the Ohinemuri River and tributaries. Waihi Walkways is committed to the environmental enhancement of each area - appropriate to its ambience and history; with riparian plantings, river protection and restoration of indigenous biodiversity whenever possible. Our walkways will link with existing bush tracks and Department of Conservation walkways and other public land.

Additionally, the social and cultural heritage values and features of each area, as they are identified, will be protected, preserved, interpreted and honoured.

You may wish to peruse the Objects of the Society (see Constitution).

We invite you to apply to become a member of Waihi Walkways Inc. There is no cost for you to join our incorporated society, or any ongoing fees – and you can participate at any level you choose. We hold committee meetings once a month, and walkway development "working bees" regularly which people are welcome to join as a volunteer. Perhaps you have a skill or talent you wish to offer for a particular project. Your involvement with Waihi Walkways is as little or as much as you choose.
