Extension of Walkway

The Waihi Walkways group has asked for permission to extend the Mill Stream walkway up past Speaks Quarry to Barry Road so that people can do a circuit from Gilmore Lake or Baker St and back via the streets or Morgan Park. The current Mill Stream Walkway stretches from the bottom of Clarke St (which backs on to the Lake), up along the stream edge to Baker St by the Squash Club. The extension will cross a number of differently owned pieces of land including Council's. The Ward Committee gave its approval to the concept and commended the group on their endeavours.

If you are in Waihi the track is a very pleasant and easy walk to take and leads to other tracks around the Union Hill area. The whole area, linking with Gilmore Lake and The Black Hill Walkway, is a great place to get your exercise for all levels of fitness.
