HAURAKI HERALD MARCH 28 2008

ROTARIANS GET THEIR HANDS DIRTY BY DOING

Rotary club members in the Hauraki Coromandel region did not hesitate to accept district governor John Tarbutt's challenge to "get our hands dirty" when they took part in a Being Seen To Be Doing Day earlier this month.

On Saturday March 16 Rotary clubs from around the region pitched in to help their communities.

Paeroa Rotary Club helped out at the Paeroa Wildfood, Wine and Arts Festival, placed a seat on the river bank at the end of Wharf St and took 22 lucky Paeroa children fishing.  Waihi Rotarians lent a helping hand to Waihi Walkway volunteers and made a significant impact on the Mill Stream Walkway project.

Thames Rotarians spent the morning helping out at the Thames Heritage Day celebrations and at 1pm eight helped construct a new deck at the Thames Plunket building.
