LEADER 4.06.2002 Waihi Walkways looking for new chairmanThe annual general meeting of Waihi Walkways Inc, to be held next week (Tuesday 18th at the Memorial Hall supper room - 7.30pm) will be informative and celebratory, according to chairperson Ruth Ordish-Benner. Peter Carter, DoC Programme Manager, Visitor and Historic Assets, Hauraki District, is guest speaker and will be discussing walkways in the district, who likes to use the walks, and the future possibilities for the whole region. "The Eastern Stream Walkway, from Baker Street to Clarke Street, is our first walkway, on DoC land, and is due to be opened later this year," said Ruth, "and so it is very appropriate to have Peter Carter address the meeting. "We will be celebrating the progress Waihi Walkways has made over the past year, and looking forward to further developments in the future. Members of the public are invited to attend and put their support into this community venture.
